Hringvangur

Hringvangur is a public-private project established as part of the Nordic Networks for Circular Construction (NNCC) project, realised in Iceland by Húsnæðis- og mannvirkjastofnun and Green Building Council Iceland (Grænni byggð). The need for such a network, enhancing the cooperation between the different stakeholders in the construction sector, was also identified at the beginning of this year within the Hringrás project at one of the workshops organised on the 19th of January and the first meeting on how to establish this network has been held with the Hringrás project managers.

Hringvangur is a network open for all parties interested in circular economy in construction.

It is planned to be hosted by the Green Building Council Iceland (Grænni byggð) in 2024.

Hringvangur's goals

1. Promote circular economy in the construction sector by, among others:

- producing and publishing various types of materials related to circular construction in Iceland or abroad;

- participating in and organising events related to circular construction.

2. Lobby authorities to pass legislation that will direct the Icelandic construction market in a more circular direction.

3. Educate and motivate stakeholders involved in the construction sector to include circular practices in their work.

4. Connect stakeholders in the construction sector to facilitate implementing circular activities in practice throughout the value chain.

To fulfil these goals, the scope of Hringvangur's work was divided into tasks and subtasks:
